I'll admit it: I'm a little obsessed with Keith Urban. So when I learned about Top Shelf's country music cruise, where live performances and country-music experiences were woven throughout an entire vacation, I knew I had to experience it for myself.
But I wasn't just going as a Keith Urban fan. As a travel advisor, I wanted to experience this cruise from a travel perspective. Could a music-themed cruise really deliver the combination of incredible entertainment, destinations, relaxation and that feeling of being part of something special? And more importantly, could I confidently recommend an experience like this to my country-loving clients?
After eight days aboard Celebrity Reflection, visiting Key West, Nassau and Bimini, I came home with a very clear answer: this was so much more than a concert at sea.
More Than a Concert at Sea
The first thing that struck me about Top Shelf was just how much was happening around the ship.
Yes, there were the big performances you expected. But there were also smaller performances, activities, conversations, special events, late-night entertainment and country-music experiences happening throughout the day. You could make the cruise whatever you wanted it to be.
That was one of my favourite parts.
I wasn't personally participating in every activity happening around me — and that's important because there really was something happening everywhere. Some guests were playing games on the beach, some were enjoying the pool, some were dancing, some were watching performances and others were simply relaxing and enjoying the vacation.
I could choose my own experience while still feeling completely immersed in the Top Shelf atmosphere.
And the artists weren't simply names on a concert schedule. Performers including Lee Brice, Scotty McCreery, LeAnn Rimes, Cooper Alan, Thelma & James and Kassi Ashton were part of the overall cruise experience. Seeing artists performing in different settings — from larger shows to more intimate experiences — created a completely different feeling than buying a ticket, sitting in an arena and going home afterward.
This was a vacation where the music was woven into the entire week.
The Ports and the Performances
One of the things I wanted to understand before taking this cruise was whether the destinations would feel like an afterthought.
They absolutely didn't.
Our itinerary included Key West, Nassau and Bimini, with sea days in between. That gave the week a really nice rhythm — explore a destination, come back to the ship and have an entirely different experience waiting for you.
Key West was our first port. I'll be honest: Old Key West wasn't my favourite stop of the trip. That's actually valuable information for me as a travel advisor. Experiencing a destination myself means I can be honest with clients about what I loved, what I didn't, and what I'd recommend doing differently.
Then came Nassau, and this was where the cruise really blurred the line between a vacation and a music festival.
The day gave us the opportunity to experience Nassau, but the evening was all about Top Shelf. The anticipation built toward Keith Urban's concert at the Nassau Cruise Port Amphitheater. There was a pre-concert tailgate atmosphere, the concert itself, and then the energy continued when everyone returned to the ship.
And yes — Keith Urban was everything I hoped he would be.
He wasn't on the ship throughout the week in the same way as some of the other artists, and the experience wasn't about having hours of personal interaction with him. But seeing him perform in that setting was unforgettable. It was intimate, exciting and very different from seeing him in a traditional arena.
That distinction is something I'd actually want my clients to know. If you're booking this type of cruise hoping for extended one-on-one time with every headliner, that's not necessarily realistic. But if you're looking for an incredible opportunity to see your favourite artists in unique settings while enjoying a full vacation around the performances, that's where this experience really shines.
And then there was Bimini.
Bimini was probably the perfect example of why this cruise is so different. Instead of simply stopping at a port and spending the day sightseeing, Top Shelf created an entire beach experience for its guests. There was music, beach time, pool time, activities, entertainment and that unmistakable feeling that the entire place had become part of the Top Shelf experience.
Lee Brice was part of that day, including an acoustic performance that brought everyone together in a much more relaxed setting.
I didn't personally play cornhole on the beach with him — but I did get to experience the atmosphere of having these artists and this incredible music surrounding the vacation.
And honestly, that's the distinction I want people to understand.
What I Learned as a Travel Advisor
Before this trip, I wondered whether a country music cruise would be too focused on the concerts and whether the cruise itself might become secondary.
I don't feel that way anymore.
You still get the things you'd expect from a cruise — your cabin, restaurants, pools, entertainment, sea days and the ability to simply relax. But then you layer an entire country-music festival over top of it.
And because you're sailing between destinations, you're not spending eight days in the same place.
You're waking up somewhere new.
You're exploring a port.
You're coming back onboard.
You're watching an artist perform.
You're grabbing dinner.
You're hearing live music.
You're relaxing by the pool.
And then you're doing it all over again the next day.
That combination is what makes this experience so compelling to me as a travel advisor.
Who Is This Cruise For?
I think this cruise is perfect for the country music fan who wants more than a two-hour concert.
It's for someone who wants the vacation and the music to be part of the same experience.
It's for couples, friends, groups and solo travellers who love country music but also want to explore destinations, enjoy the ship and have the freedom to make the trip their own.
And it's for the person who doesn't necessarily need to be standing in the front row every night to have an incredible experience.
Maybe your favourite part is the big Keith Urban concert.
Maybe it's discovering an artist you hadn't listened to before.
Maybe it's sitting by the pool with a drink while live music is happening nearby.
Maybe it's spending the day in Bimini.
Maybe it's exploring Nassau.
Or maybe it's simply being surrounded by thousands of people who love country music as much as you do.
For me, Top Shelf Country Cruise ’26 proved that a music cruise can be a real vacation first — with an incredible country-music experience built into it.
And that's what I came home wanting to share with my clients.
This experience has also opened up something new for me professionally. I'm expanding my focus to include group travel, hosted experiences and music-themed cruises, because I've now seen firsthand how much more memorable travel can be when the experience itself brings people together.
